Are You Prepared For Hurricane Season?
As we now move forward into the 2016 hurricane season, do you know if your home can withstand a powerful storm? Our owner, William McCourt was asked to come on Channel 2 news in Charleston, South Carolina to provide homeowners in the Low-country tips on how to prepare their home for the 2016 storm season.
Charleston Storm Tip Interview
Most homeowners don’t realize the importance of having a sound plan in place in case they are affected by a natural disaster. First of all, you should heed the warnings to evacuate by your local government. Avoid putting your family at risk by trying to “weather the storm”. The next step is understanding what materials you currently have on your house. In addition, you should know if they are rated, and warranted to meet winds gusts up to 130 mph (category 4 hurricane). Most roofing manufactures like GAF and Certainteed have shingles that meet our coastal requirements. Also, knowing if your home’s siding meets the 130 mph wind speeds to keep elements from penetrating your house. As a result, we recommend using James Hardie fiber cement siding that is warranted up to 130 mph.
If you find that water is coming in through your roof, or your siding is damaged, don’t wait. Call a factory certified contractor like us at Contract Exteriors. We hold the highest certifications such as the GAF Master Elite and James Hardie Elite Preferred. As a result, this gives homeowners a piece of mind knowing that we are licensed, insured, and trained to provide the best roofing and siding installation possible. At Contract Exteriors, we believe in protecting your most valuable investment…your family.
